Default How much for this?

I have a buddy with a '73 sb 4spd coupe and he wants a 700R4 in place of the 4spd. My '68 has a TH400 and I'm wanting a 4spd. He already has the 700R4 so we are swaping everything we can (pedals, shifter plate, linkage, crossmember, etc. How much should I give him for the original 4spd? It has 100K miles on it and about 6 months on a new clutch and flywheel? He told me to make him an offer. What do you guys think??

That is a tough call for me. I would be mainly concerned about the condition of the 4 speed. With 100,000 miles some parts could be getting tired. A total rebuild with new syncros and shift forks could cost some bucks. I guess it's all what the traffic will bear. That would be about as easy as a conversion could be though. I think there is a bracket for the clutch linkage that is welded to the frame and you would need to get that as well.

I checked around here this summer for one and a used 4 speed tranny was going for $200-400 depending on model and mileage. Clutch linkage setup with pedals was about $200 from a vette salvage yard here locally(when he's got one). Hope that helps.
