Default Reaching out for wiring help

Trying to get my 68 to start for moving the car around. Using the original harness. Problem is the AIM states the Brown, yellow and purple wires go to state. My harness has a Red, yellowish and purple or green wires. I am color blind so that doesn't help. Also the Red wire has a split stake on, on the other end. I'm am not sure if this end connects to the alternator hot post?
Any help or clarification is appreciated.

I can't answer all of your questions, but I labeled your wires A-E. WIre 'A' goes to ground (I think to one of the starter mounting bolts). Wire 'B' goes to the large terminal on the solenoid (same one that battery cable connects to). Wire C & D will need some investigating to verify, but one will get power when the key is in 'start', and goes to the solenoid terminal labeled 'S'. The other one goes to the coil to provide a full 12 volts to the coil during cranking, and goes to the solenoid terminal labeled 'R' (I think that's what it's labeled). If you connect wires A & B, and have a test light or multimeter, you can verify which wire is hot (C or D) when you turn the key (might need helper though), and that wire goes to 'S'.

Wire 'E' I have no idea - what part of the harness is this wire in?

The purple wire (larger awg) goes to the "S" terminal (S = start); the yellow wire (smaller awg) goes to the "R" terminal (R = run).

Also not sure what that red {E} wire is for. Need to know what harness or component it is coming from.

E belongs up at the horn relay buss bar. the pic was for another thread. If you look at the BLUE i added. its the same wire

Yay 68 stuff. always fun. I would buy a color coded ( I know your color blind but the color difference makes it easier to trace) wiring diagram from Willcox or ebay. Then buy a Doc Rebuild OHSOEZ wiring harness plug diagram. He lays out the harness ad tells you what each plug does. Buying online he has a lot of hoops to jump through so calling and ordering in the phone may be easy.

E belongs up at the horn relay buss bar. If you take a continuity test from B to E it is the saem wire. It supplies power to the buss bar which supplies power to everything in the cabin
I cant load any picatures right now but I bet that wire is solo all the way to the firewall connector but doesnt go into it

Im trying to upload pics of my harness now
