The TPS is a bit fiddly but completely doable for the backyard mechanic.
Do the old 'Stick a straight-pin (securely) into the two wires'...INDICATED IN THE SERVICE MANUAL.....then you can derive voltages as its running.
I did find that mine had drifted in 36 years and I removed it adjusted it...Checked it, then locked it back into place and paint marked it.

I think the TPS is probably your issue and it really needs to be looked at to at least be able to eliminate it. BTW, I know a place that sells a TPS test harness... jus sayin'.
