Default 72 stingray

Friend wants to sell me 12/72 stingray, 350, auto for $2500. Wanted to know if it is worth it. Needs a lot of work. He says it runs but the sticker on is from 86. There is no dash, no wires, and can't tell how many miles. What else should I be looking for. Appreciate any insight.

Joe

Look For Rust........Sounds like a major project for sure....If you can do a lot of the work yourself It may be a good deal....#'s matching??

If there's not considerable rust, you'd make that much just on parts

I faced the same decision myself. Even doing alot of the work myself with help from a brother who is a mechanic it was still going to be a costly process. Not to mention the probability that it will take years to do a good job. I finally bought one where someonelse had done the majority of the needed major work. It does invlove a monthly payment, but I have no regrets. There are also enough things on the car to fix that I find fun in figuring out but not a big enough job to totally overtake my limited abilities. As mentioned you could part the car out and make some money and be able to buy one that does not require that level of resto. Just an opinion. Another consideration is future investment potential. In my opinion a 4-speed car would be more fun and be worth more money in the long run. Okay don`t want to ruffle any auto tranny feathers. I just prefer a 4-speed.
