When I change my fuel pump(427) I just pull the rubber hose off the pump and put a 3/8 bolt in it with a couple clamps, you might havea 5/16 line with a 350. put a pan under the pump to catch any gas from the pump.

I use clamps on the rubber line beffore I pull it off. And yes you will get fuel draining back down the line from the carb and what little is on the pump side of the rubber line you clamp. If you do not, the tank level is higher than the pump and you will get all the fuel draining out of the tank onto you.
Dont forget there is your pump cam rod that is up in the engine that wills slide out when you pull the pump. some people like to pull it and cover it with grease to hole it back up in there during reassembly. I like to use the retaining bolt on the front of the engine but yo need to write a note and tape it to the steering wheel so you remember to remove it and replace the short plug bolt
The hardest part for me was getting the pump out past the motor mount and the front frame member. Good luck
Thanks Guys I figured the fuel would continue to flow from the tank, I’ll clamp or plug the line.
Just didn’t wanted to be surprised when I was under there.

You will find it easier to reinstall the fuel pump with the rod resting on the heal of the cam, so check that the distributor rotor is pointing to number one on the cap or align the timing marks to '0' on the compression stroke.
