Default Rear diff/ crossmember install

Hello C3 friends, hoping you can help a C2 brother out given the same chassis set up and the larger group on your side of the forum. I just had my diff rebuilt and decided to replace the crossmember bushings while I had everything out. I'm using the rubber replacements from Van Steel. On attempting to reinstall said crossmember, this is as far as I can get it....

I've tried everything I can think of. At the moment, the rear of the car is being supported by the crossmember, which is sitting on two jack stands. I've got as much weight/pressure on this thing as I can safely apply, and it won't budge. The cups were lubed before attempting to press everything together.

Any thoughts/advice/techniques would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

-Greg

I lightly lubed the cups and pulled them on the rest of the way using the retaining bolts.

Same here. They were 'kinda' tight, but not terribly so.

At the shop I've had to polish out the cup with a dremel and the flapper sand paper then spray with silicone. Then use longer bolts to get it in
