Default 1973 convertible EFI

All the time I've known this car, it had some fuel system issue. It runs rich and does not idle well; now that I am the new owner I am installing a FiTech 600 HP system, I've installed this system on C2 and C3. This is the first big block (396); for those who installed an EFI on their BB; can you share your settings? Most of the C2 and C3 I tuned them with a 13.6:1 AFR, just wondering if this BB will run on similar setting.

I'm not sure why your tuneing the EFI,, Part of the reason for these systems is they tune themselves as you drive,, after several hundred miles, if you develop issues, that's when you could tweek a few settings more to your liking, ,
,
. I have FiTech two yrs now,, haven't touched it, runs sweet,,,,, ( in my case, I guess the ECM is way smarter than I am,, LOL, , )

Yes, the system is a "self learning". however, the initial tune is what dictates how well i will learn. Hence when I meant by tuning, it is the initial setting for the system to learn from. If you set you initial AFR at the 14.7:1, most C2 and C3 I've installed a unit on does not run right, until the AFR is set close to 13.6:1. I am expecting my system to arrive next week. I'll post some update on the results.

Well then, for the way you tune your units, you need to contact FiTech for the proper answer,,,,,
,
Mine has performed great with the built in initial settings,, the only thing i tweeked was the idle RPM, (I WANTED IT A LIL HIGHER )
,
I wish you good success, , ,,

I've played around with EFI on my 454 for a while and yes, I've found they like to run a little on the rich side especially with a non-stock cam. I run 14:1 with port injection. With a TBI you may want a little richer still so your 13.6:1 sounds like a good place to start. I've also found all engines need the richest mix at very low load and as load increases you can lean them out until you get to WOT where you richen them back up for max power. Don't know how much control fitech gives you over the fuel map targets (I use Holley).
