So i have a bit of a special case which is why i wasn't able to find the exact answer on the forum. I have purchase a Chevrolet Performance 427 Anniversary Edition Big Block All Aluminum motor in which i am putting into my '79. The motor comes with nothing for accessories so im doing it from scratch. The motor came with a short water pump and im looking at getting a March Performance Pulley kit, how ever it seems with the short water pump kits on the corvette you have to run the GM Type 2 power steering pump with remote reservoir as apposed to the normal Saginaw Power steering pump in which is easier to deal with plus i really like the clean look of it. Although i feel like this is an easy answer i just wanted to run by you guys, if i go ahead and buy a Long water pump to replace the short one it comes with and then buy the pulley kit accordingly for the long pump, i shouldn't have any issues im not thinking of correct?
I have a March setup and it works great. I have the type II PS pump. I prefer the type II since I don't have to move/remove the alternator to check the PS fluid (you can see my reservoir in front of master cylinder).
I am also running the Edelbrock 8852 water pump. Standard rotation, short pump. The March setup uses a standard rotation pump for non-A/C and reverse rotation for A/C. Not sure what GM delivered with the 427 crate.
