I have the 68. They didn't come with the side "Stingray" emblem. I love the look of "Stingray" on the side of the car. Opinions,,,,,,,,,,,,, YES or NO on installing the emblem on a 68?
Just because the emblem was not present in '68 doesn't mean they weren't Stingrays (or Sting Rays) as GM still advertised them as the 1968 Sting Ray.
If you like the emblem (I do too) by all means add them to your car!
Greg
If you value the car looking completely "factory"...no Stingray. If you don't care about the 'factory originality' thing, do whatever you want. It's YOUR car.
The Sting Ray moniker in the brochure was a hold-over from the C2 series which WAS labeled as a Sting Ray. That was changed for the 1969 model.

People who do not care about keeping the car original also install the chrome inserts in the side vents in the front fenders. It's your car, make it like you want.
I would buy the emblems, grind off the pins and attach them using foam tape! No worry about drilling holes.👍🏻
YES,,YRS,,,,Don't drill holes, 3M makes awesom tape for moldings and emblems, , then later if your likes change, you can easily remove them with no evidence they ever were on your car,,

I was going to put the stingray emblem on my 68. But found the chrome hot wheels emblem and used that for a short while. Then things got out of hand. It doesn't matter what we think. Do what makes you happy. I think it would be cool and you can use a double sided tape so you dont have to drill holes. The chrome gills look cool too. When I first got my 68 I found a story that said they intended to have the script and chrome but it wasn't ready for production. I obviously like to do what I like with my car LOL.🥳👍 https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...2-again-6.html

Okay..I'll cave-in...The 68 WAS a Stingray....the 77 WASN'T. It does not matter how many times you tell a lie...it still isn't the TRUTH!)
If you want to re-write history...far be it from me! However, at some point you'll sell the car...If it was me and you'd drilled the holes in a fender on a '68...I'd walk away....you've ruined it on a personal whim.
How about tape type graphics... best of both worlds.
Greg...See It's spelled STING RAY in the add....that is C2 Sir! (even GM was confused!)

Brother, loud and clear!
I can never seem to make up my mind if I prefer "Sting Ray" or "Stingray"
So to help me with this identity crisis, I usually try to keep one of each.
Yes, '65 L-79 (350 hp 327) 4 spd. Nassau Blue, in the paint shop right now. Car has been off the road since 1981 for a started, then stalled restoration.
I found it over in Riverside last year and had to have it.
Hey, sounds like the bookends are no slouches either brother!
Pics would be great
As far as the mugging goes....
Get in line

Agree and side pipes too! I
I want to say I saw that side pipes were not
even an option on 69's until Dec 1968??
And all pretty easily reversible if you change your mind.

A resounding NO to the ‘69-‘76 Stingray emblem.
It makes the car look like you are making it something it’s not. Never liked that customization.
