Default GF 432 Leaks

I decided to replace the existing gas filter in my car. It's a 1968 Corvette with a non-matching 350, Holley 4160 carb. I'm using the stock fuel lines except for one small section of rubber fuel line to the carb banjo fitting inlet. Anyway, I replaced the existing filter with a new one from Ecklers. It leaked fuel from the top fitting. I must have taken it off and re-installed it about 10 times, but no matter what I did it still leaked fuel from the top fitting. I put the old one back on there and it seemed fine so I returned the filter and bought another one on Ebay. I installed that one and it leaked fuel at the bottom fitting. I removed and installed that one about 10 times and it still leaked no matter what I did. I put the old one back on and that one now that one seems to leak a little bit of fuel from the top (although not as much as the new ones). What is going with these GF 432 filters?! I'm at my wits end. I searched the forum for similar issues and didn't see much. There was an old thread were somebody suggested adding Teflon tape to the threads but I thought this was a No-No because it could work it's way to the carb and cause other issues. Any advice would be much appreciated it.

Look for copper washers for fuel fittings or wrap the tape carefully on the fitting thread and on the outside of the line flare.

Thanks. I'll give the copper washers a try.
