Default Torq Thrust D on the C3 s

I am currently in the process of buying a C3 Corvette years 1968 to 1972 I have been told that the Torq Thrust D wheels will not fit this car because of the brake calipers but on the other hand I hear if you buy rims after 2003 they were manufactured that they will fit the C3 Corvette could somebody please help me figure out an appropriate size will if it will fit I would prefer 15 by 8 on the rear and 15 by 7s on the front and if the Torq Thrust D's will not fit can somebody recommend another brand that looks similar to the Torq Thrust d any help would be appreciated

How about 17"? These are American Racing CL205. 17x8 with 4" back space. Bolt-on, clears stock and big brakes. No spacers.

Really nice looking, love the rims my only saying about going up to a 17-inch is it changes The Stance of the car I like it low to the ground I know I could get some low profile tires but it concerns me about the car sitting a little too high for my own taste and I'll try to make it look it's. Correct as I can with a 15in but thanks that's a dynamite look!

On the picture of your vet with the 17in American Racing wheels CL 205, 17 by 8 with 4 inch backspace, were you able to put the 17 by 8 on the front and the rear and what what is the tire size you were able to use on the front and rear I might have to go this way did it change your overall height much as compared to the 15 and did you have any problem at all with any scrubbing when you we're turning

If you go with the 17X8 and use a 255/50/17 tire, you will be at the same 27" diameter as the 255/60/15 that many C3s came with. They fill the wheel well the same and the stance is unchanged. If you want a shorter sidewall, try a 255/45/17 and you will drop down to a 26" diameter. Personally, I think Zwede has the look nailed. :-)

Yes, I have 17x8 front and back. Tires are 255/50-17 all around. I did have to trim the front fender lip to clear when turning, which is actually what the factory did on later C3s with the optional 255/60-15 tires. If you don't want to do that you can step the front tires down a bit to either a 245/50-17 or a 255/45-17.
The 255/50-17's are the same 27" overall height like stock and the ride height is same as stock.
With decent tires (I have Nitto 555's) you'll be surprised how much grip you have compared to any available 15" tire, especially when braking.

Torque thrust will work, you just have to order them with the correct back spacing. There are a lot of different back spacing sizes available, I think the rears on mine are 112mm back space at 8.0 wide; I think 110mm was stock. If you get them in 8.5, then you need more back spacing
BTW, it's really the e-brake mechanism that gets in the way, not the caliper.

If those wheels had been around some 24 years ago, I would have them on my '72 but none that I saw....oh well.....so I used '92 wheels, and then swapped for the '89 wheels......

the ones above would have to be 9.5 wide for my tires, same as stock diameter.....275/50/17 rear with modified ebrake cable location, and 255/50/17 in front with slightly limited steering to keep from rubbing....
so best I could do was mimic the look....oh well....see below for pix....

I have 15 x 8.5 on the front of mine with a 245 tire. Backspace on the front is 4.25 and it is very close to the tie rod ends. 15 x 8.5 with 4 inch backspace should fit the front of any C3 perfectly. In the rear, the 8.5 with 4.25 inch backspace works fine, and with relocating the parking brake cable bracket, you can go more.

Thanks for the info, It's going to help me out a lot!!Have a great week!!!!
in addition if I do like you say with the 4-inch backspace I will not have to use any spacers at all? I really want to make sure I don't run into any problems before I order these wheels and tires, thanks again

As others have stated, the new Torq Thrust D will clear with no spacers.

By the way, you can get the TTDs in 16x8 with -12mm offset same width and offset as the stock wheels.
