Does anyone have a suggestion on removing old, crusty exhaust flange studs?? I broke one, when removing my pipes and I've tried everything but removing the exhaust manifold.
I had my exhaust manifolds off (had pulled the engine), soaked studs threads in PB Blaster etc. Two of them broke off and I had to (carefully) drill them out and use one of those wedge shaped stud removal tools (Sears), and some gentile persuasion.
:smash:
If it isn't broken off too close to the manifold then there are some stud removal tools that attach to a 1/2 inch drive ratchet.
However, its probably going to take you less time to remove, work on, and replace the exhaust manifolds than to remove the stud while its in the car.
