Anyone else make a hood strut kit? I can only find one vendor and its $185 which seems a little on the expensive side.
I bought mine from Speed Direct a few years back.
I don't see it listed on the website anymore though.
I like the product except in high winds.
The wind will overpower the strut and shut the hood.

Looks like some of the Corvette Vendors have them for about $150.
Still darn expensive.

I ended up with a heavier hood on my car and keep a "Remove Before Flight!" pin inserted in some holes in the strut. Don't remember where I got it, but it is a comfort when ever my head is under there. It hangs nicely around the hood's bumper when not in use.

How about posting a picture of what you have?
I'd like to do that to mine.
You can make it for like 30-40 bucks all in, I did it when I needed to move it to the other side. Go to strong arms website find the length you want to run and the adapter nuts. Run at least an 80lb rod, that's robbery what they are charging for a "kit"

Yea was kinda hoping a member was maybe making kits or someone had detailed instructions
I'm not sure what the hood prop looks like on a C3 but I put a gas version on my C2. Autozone Mighty Lift E9512. Less than $25 and comes with the ball sockets for the ends. I just drilled out the rivets on both ends of the stock hood prop, installed end brackets with the *****, and latched on the strut. Been on the car for a few years now. Still works.
Well now I have attempt to make some to sell. I'm thinking two pieces with an elbow that will go over center and a hole drilled for the remove before flight pin for those gusty days. The gas strut is a great idea too, and for $25 you can't go wrong. It will have to be replaced at some time though.
