Default Battery Box Question

I have discovered that the battery box in my 69 had been "Bubba Fixed" before. The bottom had dropped and been glassed about 1/2 inch lower and a poor job I might add. It looks like it would be less hastle to replace than repair. My question is , Who makes a replacement piece? I looked in the catalogs and did not see any.
Anybody know where I could find one?

I did this job last summer on my 69. In my case there was no bottom at all, just a piece of sheet metal holding the battery in. I bought a used box from Gary Gruhala and glassed it in. It came out pretty good and has held the battery dof ar without a problem. I think there are several vette junk yards out west that would have these.

I'm with gtr1999, I think if you get a used one from a junk yard and splice it in you'll be better off. I repaired my t-tops with fiberglass and they have been perfect ever since. But make sure it is deep enough that the compartment door will close without touching the battery itself when you do it. :yesnod:

I am with the two guys above. The battery box was the first fiberglassing I ever did. No one can see your work :D It is not that hard. Buy the thin rubber gloves and some acetone for cleanup along with the strand not woven glass.

Good luck,

George

Also get a roller to roll out the air bubbles in the mat/resin. I got a nice one from McMaster-Car for about $13.00.
