Inner HD U Joint Cap Torque Spec?

Default Inner HD U Joint Cap Torque Spec?
69 427 corvette.... The AIM shows the Torque for the Inner U Joint Cap bolt torque to be 50 ft lbs.???
The cap bolts are 9/16. Isn't that torque spec kind of excessive?
The AIM is page 377 UPC L36 Sheet B7
What do you guys think.?

That sounds way high for a 3/8 bolt. Standard torque for a grade 8 3/8 bolt is around 36 lb ft.

Chassis Service Manual 1969, back of manual, section 4, Axle Drive Shaft to Yoke, 15 ft/lbs.

yes that is correct but I'm talking about the half shaft u joint to differential yoke cap bolts. 4. 3/8-16 cap bolts
