I posted a few weeks ago about my passenger side, front running light not working correctly. The blinker and hazard works, but the running light will not come on. After looking at the shop manual and messing around under the hood, the problem grew!! Now the side running light (next to the front running light) is dim and when the lights are on, the right signal indicator in the dash is on, but dim. The blinker still works and the signal indicator in the dash still blinks, but the light never goes all the way off.
I may have found one of the problems. I pulled the blinker light and the piece of plastic that the light goes into has 3 wires running to it. There is a cluster of 2 wires and then a third by itself (I assume this is the ground wire). When I move the 3rd wire around, the light in the dash does off and the side running light will get brighter or go out completely. Is this "third" wire my problem? Has anyone else gone through this before??
:seeya One wire is filament voltage to parking filament, second wire is voltage to directional filament. Third wire is ground, common to both filaments. :yesnod: It sounds like you have a bad ground, or a bad socket. Replacement sockets for the 1157 bulb can be found in the HELP section of your local autoparts provider :yesnod: :seeya

How do you disconnect the old socket? I pulled on the wires going into the socket (not very hard) and could not get them to move. Do I just need to pull harder, or cut the wires and get new connections for the new socket?
Re: I need electrical help. PLEASE!!! (FastGlass79-85)
Fastglass79-85,
The new socket took care of almost all of my problems. After putting the new socket on, the side running light got bright and the dash turn signal indicator light is now working correctly.
After the new socket, I still could not get the running light (signal running light) to work. However, I then turned the lights on and started moving the socket around and the running light would blink. It ended up being a bad socket and a bad wire harness that connects the socket pigtail to the wires running to the dash. I think the problem is about solved.
:seeya Anytime I replace sockets, I eliminate both the female and male plug associated with them, and go to the good old crimp connector :yesnod: Now if your keeping it all "by the numbers", then you have to use new connectors and sockets  Glad to have been of help :) :seeya
