Default Headlight motors

I have recently installed 68-82 headlight upgrade motor kit, purchased through headlight motor works jacksonville fl. I can only assume this company has ceased trading
however
my headlamps failed to pop up with the lights turned on. I attached a live wire and earth to the motors and the came up. My dilema now is how to get them back down, has anyone any ideas or am i sunk.
Item also available through ecklers (who i refuse to use again, a long story) and full throttle corvette p/n 6882kit

any help would be very very appreciated
bob

Hey Bob-

There several different designs-

Some used Firebird motors-- with uses external electronic modules.
Also common were the linear actuators ones- slow but works- also uses outboard electronics.
Then there is the Miata/Ford Probe set ups- with don't use outboard electronics but have an open and close trigger wires.

Some are wired to the parking lights- some to the headlight switch / dimmer and a few to the actual headlights.

So we really need to see what you have- post a picture up if possible.

Linear actuator-

Miata Motor-

Firebird-

OH- just saw that they use the C5 corvette motors...they have an outboard electronic box- from my understanding they come factory set to the closed position- and you are not supposed to manually turn the motors-

If you have they might just be out of sync. I don't know the process to get them back in sync?

Here's a post on the C5 conversion kit you talk about- forum member was not able to solve the issue-

I used the firebird / C5 motors - they are basically the came thing. You need to use the headlight module if not you're going to og nuts with relays reversing polarity to make them go down. Use the headlight module from a C4 or C5. Again pretty much the same thing.

The ecklers kit is using the module and is WAY over priced IMO

Here is everything you need https://mcspeed.homestead.com/our_products.html Hes out of business but everything you need to DIY is their very clearly.

One last edit...I did NOT need to create brackets to mount the motors if you take the gear out and reverse the spindle the left / right of the motors line up to the holes, a little grinding in the center of the housing and using the stock f-body arms and everything on mine clears and works like its factory.

thanks, the motors from Ecklers have been fitted. They worked ok for a week or so. I had to disconnect the battery for another problem. When I reconnected the battery the light no longer functioned.. the only way I can raise them now is to remove the plug from the command module and attach a live and ground. to lower is to do the opposite. they should work automatically but they do not. don't know how to reset the box

The motors can get out of sync that isn't uncommon. Check in the c5 section it's has happen to me before took a bit of trial and error of getting them back in sync.

Also maybe you shorted the module worst case when you reconnected the battery, not sure how you wired it.
