What voltage does the Lectric unit require?
if 12 volts, disconnect the + coil wire and run a new wire from the IGN post on the fuse box to the + coil terminal

The breakerless SE system is set up just like points. One wire to the - side of coil. Doesn’t get direct 12 volts.

If yours requires low current at both Start & Run ... why have a diode at all? ... perhaps yours needs only a viable resistor/ballast in a viable Run circuit ? And No Start circuit at all ? Dunno ?
If your system is Not supposed to have Full current at any time ...If ? I've interpreted your post #25 to mean just that, but maybe I misinterpreted ?
WAG ... if it's not supposed to get Full current, But you've been hitting it w/ Full current at each Start for 2 years ... maybe that damaged something & it just puked? Dunno ?

Did I misinterpret #25 ?
No. I meant it is not directly wired to 12 volts. It comes though the coil just like points.
In so many words ...quote... Do I need to remove the ballast resistor or resistance wire from my vehicle when installing the Breakerless-SE™? Because the Breakerless-SE was designed for original or restored-to-original vehicles, you MUST use a ballast resistor (if your vehicle was originally equipped with one), or resistance wire (if your vehicle originally has this wire built into your dash harness or engine harness). Do NOT remove your ballast resistor, or remove the resistance wire. This will eventually damage the Breakerless-SE™ module and void your warranty.
so ... back to my first thoughts ... maybe your resistor wire is toast

I think it is. After talking to lectric limited today. This wire will not show the signs of being burnt etc like a normal wire would if it was damaged etc. I think it had to have gotten pinched somehow.
I wanted to give a update. It was the black resistant wire going to the + side of the coil that had gotten shorted and damaged. Fixed that and it fired right up.
