We are so fortunate in this country to have the freedoms we enjoy.....and we wouldn't have them without the selflessness of the men and women who serve our country...........................
"If you are so inclined, visit the Department of Defense web page below and sign a brief message thanking the men and women of the U.S. military services for defending our freedom. The compiled list of names will be sent out to our soldiers at the end of the month. So far, there are only about 786,927 names. What a shame. November is National Military Appreciation Month (please pass it on to your email friends). http://www.defendamerica.mil/nmam.html
Re: Important - Military Appreciation message (MNJack)
Thanks for the headsup! I am number 1,458,846 already!! :) MJ
Ditto. I am number 1,459,507. As a retired military member I can tell you this may seem like a little thing to most people but to those that serve in our armed forces it means a great deal! :yesnod:
Re: Important - Military Appreciation message (Gaijin)
I agree with Honaker. I, too, am in the military (Air Force) and, also, have been in for 17 years. Don't get me wrong, the kind words and thanks are GREAT, but it is a shame that it took such a tragedy for SOME people to take notice of what we give every day. This is not meant as a rant or a "calling out" of anybody. We, the military individuals, LOVE to hear that what we do means so much to all of you. The Navy almost had it right, "Its not just a job, its our lives we put on the line to preserve yours and our freedoms, and to us, THIS IS AN HONOR. THANK YOU ALL TSgt Gherardini :flag
Re: Important - Military Appreciation message (greatgonzoglenn)
I come from a family with a long military history. Currently my brother is serving actively as an Army Ranger. Thank you everyone who has helped to make our country great.
Re: Important - Military Appreciation message (Gaijin)
This was a great thought and a good idea! More often then not we get forgotten about especially by our different levels of government. combined my wife and I have just over 32 years as veterans(I'm retired military). Most of the time our active duty military are forgotten about as well until someting happens then they seem needed and are remembered. From a veteran, thanks again fo ryour thoughts!
