I have the Smart struts with the lower inner diff mounting point. I just never knew if Shark Bite rear suspension was was an actual improvement
I have not driven it yet, have seen good reviews but it cannot be any worse than what I had. My rear suspension was completely shot and one of the bolts holding the leaf spring to carrier had actually sheared off. At least it now has truly independent rear suspension.
Very nice; Thanks for sharing. I washed mine down and put my powerwasher to it before painting it. I got it pretty clean; I believe the POR 15 will hold up.
[QUOTE=Pzark;1600867395]POR15 when exposed to UV light has a reaction however as we are under the car the sunlight never gets to it. You can top coat it if you want.
Changing the seals was relatively easy. Be careful with the pinion seal do not drive it in to far.
I had the back cover of my diff as I did get it powder coated and it has to be removed so you can get to the yoke retaining clips. It was a good time to check the yokes and the end play. You do have to remove the yokes to replace the yoke seals, so I did one at a time. I checked the end float, mine were well within spec, removed the yoke, replaced the seal and then refitted the yoke. I then did the other side. Hope this helps. Good luck .[/QUOTE
Hi all,
What does it take to get the old yoke seals out? Mine are pretty seized up in the differential; Is it ok to use heat? When installing them, do they need to be greased or anything? Thanks.

I just used a hammer and pry bar, doesn’t matter if you bend and destroy them, they should come out. Just work your way around them. When installing I used a large socket that covered the flange and they tapped in easily since I was applying an even force over the entire flange when hitting the center of the socket with a hammer, I actually had a 1/2” drive socket the right diameter in my tool box and I just popped in a short extension bar to hit on. If you just try going around the flange with a hammer they tend to want to pop out. That was my experience.
If you do not pack grease on the inside spring there is good chance you may pop it out hammering it in. You won't know until you see oil leaking out past the axle.
Hi all, I'm getting ready to put my rear differential cover and gasket on and I found some of my ring gear bolts loose. Can anyone let me know what they need to be torque at? Thanks.
