Default Body removal question - rear valance

Hi Folks quick question:

My rear exhaust valance panel is bondoed to the rest of the body and is not removable (by previous owner). Will it still possible to lift the body off the frame with out removing the valance panel?
From the looks of it, the bumper reinforcement from behind may get in the way as the body is lifter? Will I be able to roll the chassis forward as I try to clear the valance?
My car has excellent paint. I would hate to have to brake off the valance off the car. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

When I pulled my body the valance had been "repaired" made one piece with the rear end. I had to cut it away for a smooth lift.

Its a very tight fit getting the body off with the valance removed...as the rear crossmemeber all the way out the back literally comes through that if you pull the body up absolutely level.

You might be able to manage this if you can tilt the nose up but that can lead to the lift straps slipping. Not sure how your lifting the body, but traditionally its done by the rocker channel lips.

I just remember my 69 cubby compartments being very tight back there and the body rubbing on the frame kickups and not allowing alot of room to "slip" the body backwards as you are anticipating.

If your a chrome bumper car the repair paint etc will be pretty much covered up by the bumpers as they outline the valance pretty well. I was lucky as the valence mount tabs were still intact ... i just had to carefully undue the previous guys handy work and buy a new valance.

It can be lifted with a valance panel still in position .

Just take your time and have at least two people so one can operate the crane and the other can manoeuvre the body around or roll the frame forward/backward as needed.

Yes it can be lifted off with the valance panel in place. It helps considerably if you take the front air tank out first. This enables the body to move back and forth to clear the rear valance easily. Taking the air tank out first is a bit of a pain, but can be dropped out of the front of the car from underneath.

For a 73 yes ok (I haven't done a 73 ) but a 72 with a glassed in rear valance is possible as well .There's no vac tank to remove and the front valance is glassed in also , tight but still doable.
