Default 18" wheel - 9 or 9.5 crazy price....

I see many images and write ups by guys running 18 x 9.5 rear wheels.
I am looking at Torq Trust IIs the price difference between 9" and 9.5" wide is significant more than double on the sites I am shopping.
I'm thinking just run 9s.... but nobody does.... I am newer to C3s is there a reason I only see guys running 9,5?

Thanks

You have to use some common sense. If a tire manufacturer gives you a recommendation wheel width don't you think that you should follow them?

You should also go towards the wider number. I have 10 inch front and 13 rear

At the time of purchase 285 mm width fell within the lower end (9") of Toyo's suggest rim width range - as does 275 mm section currently......

Sorry I didn't mean to step on any toes. I was only talking to the original poster about wheel choices.

My advice has always been to choose the tires you want, then wheels, and the best flares when they figure out that they can't fit it in

No problems for me George - it just goes to show that you need to be careful with selection of tyres in more areas that just fitment. I decided to only source tyre sizes that were available for vehicles that were reasonably popular so there wouldn't be future availability issues (and better prices). Rears at were same size as one of the supercharged Jags - (then Toyo and others discontinued 285/40/18 size a few years later!) 255/45/18 was a TVR size - and we know what happened with them (or more accurately what hasn't happened with them).

ET Wheels LT-IIIs come in lots of sizes, with a custom backspacing. Same price for 18x9 and 18x9.5. Here's a thread with examples:

I think 9.5 is about the widest you can fit without significant modifications, so that's what gets run.
