As you can see I broke my exhaust manifold LH,I was on a back road and
hit down a bit hard...but on the positive side I replace them with 2 1/ 2" ram-horns.
As you can see the car has been lowered by 1 3/4" all round....it drives a way better...but there is consequences

nz corvette If you're going to go to 2.5" manifolds then you might as well go with 2.5" downpipes from a 64. I did that a couple of years ago. I'd had headers for 30+ years and when the last ones failed I went to coated 2.5" manifolds. Let me get the link.
No ..scrapped the rear a bit which I guess leveraged on the manifold, the manifold did have surface cracking but no splits. The road I was on was used by logging trucks a lot ...so say no more

Hi,thanks for the info..great thread and I like the finish on your manifolds, lucky for me a mate of mine changed over his 65 C2 2 1/2" down pipes to side pipes so I used his old ones to have 2 1/2" front to back, in the end I might have even pick up a couple of HP

Aren't many replacement iron manifolds (& heads) manufactured in New Zealand ?
Not sure about what's manufactured in NZ but supply of parts aren't to much of a problem here,I got my 2 1/2" manifolds from Auckland in a couple of days and I probably could have replaced my stock manifolds locally.
Put some JB-Weld on it!
Love to see how long it would last.
Seriously, if you were in the middle of nowhere on a road trip, a good mechanic could 'V' it out and braze it with an Oxy/Acetylene torch and brass rod. The grains of metal open up with the heat, it would probably last indefinitely (or at least many years). I've welded some cast iron manifolds ...but not one as cracked as yours.
[QUOTE=nz corvette;1600921825]Now why didn't I think of that!! The truth be known when we pulled the down pipe it came away,
but would have held in place for sometime I reckon....Maybe next time I'll try the JB weld
Iv'e attached a couple of pics of the new manifolds...I think they look pretty good
