Default Carb. info

Years ago I had to replace the carb. on my '69 corvette with a rebuilt one. The rebuilt carb. did not have a date on it..I am looking to put a correct carb on, but not sure what to use. The car has a build date of late December of 1969. Would this use a 7029202 or a 1970 number 7040202. I can't find a 7029202 with a Nov. or Dec. date. Thanks for any info.

Carburetors built in December of 1969 will be 1970 carburetors with the 1970 part number (7040202). Also, if your car was built in December of '69, it should be a 1970.

I don't think they started building the 1970 until January of 1970 due to the strike in 1969.

If you are looking at having the car judged. All 3 judging venues allow a 6 month window pre-build of your Corvette on most parts except glass which has a 12 month window. So a December 20th build Corvette could have a Carburetor made June 20th.

I doubt that Rochester anticipated the strike or compensated for it, so they would have been building 1970 model carbs in December of '69, whether they were installed on'69 models or '70 models.
