Too my knowledge there was only 1 or 2 ground straps used in 79, depending on the options. The first one was attached to the stud on the right side of the plastic ignition shield by a wingnut, and grounded to the intake manifold. The second one grounded the antenna to the frame, when the car was equipped with the standard, fixed mast antenna. If my memory is correct, a ground strap wasn't used with the optional power antenna, I think it was grounded through the harness. I don't have a 79 AIM to check, and my 81 and 82 AIM's are at work, but both grounds should be shown in the assembly manual.

Pull off the left doorsill, there's also one under there.

Looking at a Corvette Parts Book and an 82 AIM, I believe there are 3 in 79.

The 82 AIM (section A01, sheet 19) shows one coming from the forward edge of the body sill, and attaching to the number one frame body mount, on the left (driver's) side. I had thought that GM eliminated this ground after 77, but in checking my resources I found I was wrong.

The second one is the one I mentioned before that goes from the stud on the ignition shielding, to the intake.

The third runs from the antenna to the frame, and is attached using the same bolt as the tail lamp harness is grounded too. Both the fixed mast and power antennas, got a ground strap, but the length of the strap was different for each antenna.

These are the only ground straps I can find on a 79, using an AIM and a "1980 Corvette Parts and Illustrations Catalog". The ground that goes from the starter to the frame is a regular ground cable, not a braided or flat copper ground strap.

All of these items have one or more ground wires and I have probably missed some. Lectric Limited is a great source for these if needed there maybe others.

Air conditioning compressor has a ground wire
Cruise control
Underhood light
With power antenna
Without power antenna
Starter motor bracket to frame
Ground strap intake to ignition shield
