And did you remove all 8 plugs? I can't see a motor seizing in 3 weeks. And it sounds more like it was a couple of days. And is the starter removed? You drained the oil. Was there any water coming out before oil came out? Ok, so this post just repeated what Heads up posted. I am a boat guy. Seen a lot more water damage to Chebby V8's than most. A few days with water in the bores is NOT gonna wreck an engine.

Thanks derek, I was a boat guy for years too. I did remove all 8 plugs (counted twice because second guessed myself!) I think water got in and when I tried to crank it i bent a rod or something similar. My guess.

No. You did not bend a rod. You bend a rod hydro locked when you have it cranking full speed and you hear it hit that piston full of water and stop dead. Trust me, I know. Got the T-shirt. But still the motor started with the S-bend in the connecting rod but you can hear the crank throw hit the piston skirt. nice big noise. But if you can't turn it with a big screwdriver in the flywheel teeth, pull the heads. How long did it sit with water in it? a couple of days, or a couple of weeks?

If there are questions about bent rods or seized bottom end, you could always pull the oil pan and inspect the rods and bearings.

Did you check that the starter gear isn't still stuck in the ring gear?

You could always air-up a cylinder or two ... see if that don't stroke it ... if not, it's stuck

Good Idea to drop the pan and shine a light up in the bottom of the block to inspect cylinders, rods, etc. before pulling engine.
