I purchased this valve from one of the suppliers. It's for a 68 vet. It's supposed to be a one way valve. When I blow into the valve, air will move both directions. Has anyone purchased this valve and tested it before installing? It's a very common design. I am wondering if they are all the same. The one on my car will only let air go one way.
Good video... I have checked the valve with my MIGHTY vac mouth. I will try a few drops of oil. Nope,,, didn't help. I might try some brake clean. Nope,,, didn't help. I tried blowing air through it also. The valve should snap shut with ease, as it is designed to hold vacuum. The supplier is sending another valve.
I cut the valve open. The rubber baffle must have been deformed.
A few years ago, I went through a couple that were bad right from the vendor. After replacing 2 and asking for my money back, the vendor complained that he'd gotten a lot of returns and that I shouldn't be so picky. WTF??? Got my refund and crossed him off my list of sellers.
A lot of repo parts suck.

Buying a NOS 40+ year-old part with a rubber valve wouldn't seem like a good idea. But, I fully understand that the likelihood of success might be about the same as buying an aftermarket 'new' part......
One thing I will say.... if you have the plastic version of the mighty vac... (or migty vac) you might want to check it first.... they are junk and made from plastic... Mine is the old brass version that I can rebuild if it fails... but the new plastic versions made in Gina..... are junk..

I have found two. Both worked on friends cars zero issues. Both friends had negative repop results.
