I started with that same type of insulation under the door panels and it made a big difference. Later, with the door guts out, I added some Dynamat to the inside of the outer door-skin. Made the door just a little bit heavier, but augmented the sound deadening significantly. Nice lower-pitch ‘chunk’ sound on closing the doors. On one I installed with regulator in place by cutting the material into smaller pieces. Either insulation, or both together work well in the T-tops as well.

Hey did you ever get answer on how many wraps. I’ve done this a few times and I just vise the main body and put the spring on center then rotate the long arm all the way around till the tab goes on pin then pull it back around to apply tension and install bolt. As for level of difficult it’s not bad at all but maybe I’m not rotating it around enough?????? Really could use your answer on wraps.
No, and I have asked the same question more than once over the years. No one seems to know the answer. I haven't heard any more about that alleged tool for winding the spring either. Anyone?

thanks for the response. I hear ya I’ve asked a few questions now and then that seem to get over looked or just no answer. I have never seen this “spring tool” in any mag. Seems to be a really special super duper limited edition not for my eyes only tool. Any ways thanks for the response
There's very little movement in the mechanism and clock springs release energy very evenly. One turn past the time it gets nice and tight is all you need. Anything more and you needlessly stress a spring that's not a single coil longer than necessary.

There is a huge body of knowledge represented on this forum. Much more than any other I’ve ever visited. But still there are the occasional gaps in the data base. Maybe we need a sticky with just those questions that no one seems to be able to answer.
