Default braake caliper replacement

this may be a stupid question, so i have a new brake caliper coming. because its a pain to get the old brake line off ect i want to start removing my present caliper. how do i stop the draining of the brake fluid from the master cylinder threw the brake line untill i,m ready to attach it back togeather, I assume gravity will keep the fluid flowing

Correctly sized silicone or rubber vacuum cap.

Just like Easy Mike, I too used a golf tee. Not just any golf tee, but a painted wood piece. It sat in the line for a few days waiting for a caliper. When I went to remove the tee, the brake fluid removed the paint. But also weakened it so bad it snapped off, in the brake-line! Had to remove the line and drill out the tee.

I am not a big fan of pinching off rubber lines with vise-grips. That tends to do invisible damage on the inside of the hose.

I use plastic golf tees and have had no issues.

Pinch the hose with a pair of vice grips, then cut the brake hose below the crimp. That way you won't forget to replace the brake hoses. You already ordered those too, right? If they are more than 10 years old, you should replace them.

I use wood golf tees but to remove the paint and give it more taper so it holds better I just run it through a pencil sharpener.
