Was reading up on diesels (big rigs) and saw someone talk about an electric fan clutch
Guessing at WOT or higher rpm it coudl be shut off?
imo the ultimate setup would be one similar, maybe hooked to a switch and a plastic lightweight type blade similar to a full size modern truck.
Trying to think outside the box...at some point I will put a mech back on...I wing this thing above 7k and the thought of a fan going through my hood (again) isnt good maybe theres an alternative.
A dual Spal setup is cheaper than some of those electric clutches!
Is there a reason not to go (or stay) electric?
Here's an electric A/C clutch running a fake blower, perhaps a starting point for your outside the box thinking (or a reason to see The Roadwarrior again).
A controller or perhaps a better fan than the single 16" spal I have would probably do it.
I like the steady temps of a mechanical over the up/down of the electric running the spal fan switches.

This PWM controller will work- about a buck and a half-
Varies the speed as needed- soft start plus uses it own sensor stuck on the "cold" side of the radiator.
And if you want- have a WOT switch that shuts down the fan(s)
I have my electric speedo output of my TKO500 connected to my ECU so at 35MPH turns the fans off.

Perfect!!!! Never knew that existed, exactly what Id want. Those controllers pretty reliable? Been balking as it seems most arent, dont wanna get stuck.
Thanks Rich

This one had a sensor problem when it first came out- they were using a through the fins piece- now they have changed to a new style for the past couple years.
Some guy designed this piece years ago- can't remember the name he was making them under- sold the design to Derale . Seems to be the most weatherproof & well built one I have seen.
Summit Racing sells them- so if you have a problem with it-they have always taken care of me.
