Hi Olivier,
Many years ago I did a fair amount of racing. (1/4 mi)
After a few years the only thing I broke was the diff carrier. It split from the pin.
Last fall I rebuilt the TAs, and when I removed the spindles I discovered that both spindles had twisted splines. Not likely would have broke soon, however they were heading that way.
My opinion is that the Vette rear is strong, however eventually you will break something. It's just a matter of time.
Two ways to approach it, wait for the failure and then fix it, or attempt to beef it up before that happens.

I will probably wait until something is going to break... The only thing that worries me is that a breaking component would cause the car to crash on the track.....

The only thing that really could cause extra damage/potential crash would be the Ujoints on the half-shafts.
I would consider the half-shaft safety loops, as they could prevent considerable damage. They could easily pay for them selves.
When I broke the diff carrier, it was not an explosive failure, it twisted the carrier, and the crown gear had a severe wobble. I was able to drive it home, very slowly with a loud grinding noise.

I think that my u-joints are strong enough.. I just had my half shaft u-joints replaced with solid Spicers.. They look extremely strong... I heared that they should be good up to 700+ HP...

You're right about the spicers. I have Spicers (with zerks) installed for over 20 years. If they were going to break, they should have done so by now. Other things will likely break first.
Grandsport, it did not work for me either, I don't know what happened to the site. Im sure someone else on the forum has used the kit. Its was less costly than the VBP smart struts and seems to provide the same results.

I'm in the same boat that you are GrandSport. I just can't see spending that much money on my suspension when it's working fine. I decided to spend my money on my new motor, and just worry about the rear when the time comes. I've talked to a couple of bracket racers on the internet, and some are running low 11s on stock rears. I also put on halfshaft safety loops, just for added security. I'm planning on sticking to my little drag radials anyways, but I might bolt on slicks eventually. I used to pull a 1.73 sixty-foot with my old mild 355 on 235/60/15s. You should see the expressions on people's faces when they see my car launch. I have videos of it dragging my exhaust on the street in front of Ms Goldie's (Local Hangout) when I would street race. I could leave off my old 3000 stall without spinning at all. I know it won't hook with the new motor, but I'm really shooting for low 11's on those drag radials. I should be making it to the track in about 2 weeks.

I think you're talking about the red vette that runs at No Problems. I have the at guy's business card in my wallet with a picture that shows his vette sitting on the back bumper! He doesn't run a stock IRS, though. It's a modified 12-bolt Chevy that has been converted to IRS. It's a very nice piece. I've seen similar rears for sale, but I've yet to see one with a posi unit. I watched one on ebay just 3 months ago go for only $1500! That included chunk, cover, yokes, halfshafts, leaf spring, shocks, brakes and everything. But, it had a spool. I'm still kinda regretting it, though
