Default Fuel pump help

Hello all! I am replacing my fuel pump on my 79 l82 stock vette after finding a leak from the pump. I disconnected the two rubber lines but I would like to buy new ones since who knows how old they are. What is the best link or places to get them? I am looking for the rubber lines from the metal gas tank fuel lines to the mechanical fuel pump.

Lastly, taking off the mechanical fuel pump for replacement, I noticed a bad twist in the fuel line from the carb to the fuel pump. Can someone send me a link forna new one to that as well? Would a stainless braided line work? I am open to anything I would rather replace the carb to fuel pump line and rubber lines while I'm in there to be safe.

Thanks all!

Its a specific fuel line. They will have them listed that way. You cant use just rubber line anymore as the alcohol melts it.
heres the s line on the supply side

I would call them to actually talk to some one

I would also recommend replacing the brass fuel pump fitting. If your replacing the metal line may as well have a nice clean flare seat to start with.

These are very helpful! Both will be ordered. I am looking at the Wilcox site but I can not find the fuel line from pump to carb. I found some on ecklers but would rather get them all in one place. Any suggestions? Steel braided?

I am looking at two fuel lines from the carb to pump. I don't see the difference except for price. Any input? I reached out to Wilcox to see what they say. As of right now I'm going to order the brass fitting and the fuel line if I find out which one is the best! Thanks again all!

Which one do you think is better? Does the stainless have more flex to it to maneuver it around? The old one I took off was rigid I just hope whatever I buy is the exact length with twists and turns as the origina . Thanks speedreed8!

The stainless line is very hard and sometimes it's difficult to get a good seal at the fittings on both ends because of the hardness. I would go with the regular lines and they are pre bent to conform to your application.

Excellent! Thank you all. Parts are ordered!! Lastly, while installing the new pump I got from napa, how high up on the lever does the push rod go? Just want to make sure I get it lined up correctly! Will I know if it's lined up wrong and the pump won't fit on and if it's lined up correctly it will mount flush? Thank you!

You should leave the pushrod in the engine, then install the pump. When I did this, I used a bit of grease to keep the pushrod from sliding out during the install. You can also bump the engine with the starter (or turn it by hand) to get the cam to the point that the pushrod is furthest retracted.

Yes, thank you! That is the procedure I am going to use. If the pushrod is not on the lever will the pump not install correctly? Basically, what I'm asking, is if I install it wrong how will I know? There is no room to see if it's on the lever. Willl the fuel pump not be flush with the engine? Thanks again!

I didn't think that hard about it. I used the procedure in my previous post, and it just bolted up. At least on my car, the holes were round, there was no adjustment, it could only go together one way. The lever on the pump lined up, and I had to press on the pump while I tightened the bolts. You can feel the lever is between the rod and the mounting plate.

Here are instructions with pictures. I'm sure there are lots of videos on Youtube, too.

I s'pose if you install it wrong, you'll know when it doesn't work? I doubt you could tighten the bolts if the lever isn't correctly placed.

There is a bolt hole on the front of the engine that goes all the way through to the push rod. If you pull out the short bolt and replace it with a long bolt ou can snug it enough to keep the bolt from falling out. You just need to remember to switch them back

Tips:
EMAIL only as of 3/17/2020. That is new.
Be sure to clearly specify the part names, numbers and price if inquiring via email about parts availability from his online website (if not placing an online order).
Specify all shipping information ready
Have payment (credit card) that matches your billing address

NOTE: I used to print and complete his Order Form ahead of time. It has been years since I installed his parts as they don't wear out given my vette sits indoors most of the time.

Got the parts in yesterday! Installed everything and fired it up and there was a small leak at the new brass fuel pump fitting. I tightened it more but after disconnecting the metal fuel line to tighten it I can not get the new metal fuel line back on the fitting to test to see if it's still leaking. Any advice?

Also, I pulled the throttle linkage (when first testing) to see if gas would squirt in the carb from the jets and it does. Does that mean the fuel pump was installed correctly? The car however would not catch and idle. Any advice on that? Thank you all!
