Best to fix it...it could go all the way on off. Since you have some leverage on the bolts slowly turn the pully CW and see if you can get it to go around correctly. You should be able to loosen the alternator also to reinstall the belt correctly.

Yup ... it'll most surely fix itself ... by spitting itself out and perhaps wreaking havoc along the way.
It may've already suffered internal cord damage.
Suggest you R&R it asap.
I'm thinking you'll keep having problems because it sure appears that your alternator is not lined up with the crank and water pump pulleys. It looks to be back further.
Your power steering pump pulley is really crooked too unless it straightens out when the belt is installed and the pump bolts are tight.
You need to figure out a game plan to line up the pulleys. Spacers, bending the old mounts, new mounts, or even starting over with an aftermarket system.
It the pulleys are properly aligned, it is not possible to have the belt twist [on its own]....UNLESS you have installed the wrong belt [type] for the pulleys that you have.
