With the car level on a Qwik-Lift, and the spare removed, I can sit upright on the floor to do this job. If you aren't going to use the spare, you probably don't need to carry it around with you.

I picked up a fluid transfer pump that screws onto my diff fluid bottle. If you aren't using a gallon off this stuff, you may not need it, but it made my life easier.

So i sprayed the spare tire hold down with PB blaster, and pray i dont strip the threads on anything. i will keep you posted either way.
i used thr suction method with 2 gm posi additives..didnt need to remove spare..i did try and it is welded in there..never did get mine loose and barely dirty..or rusty..i like the look and keep air in the original spare..

I'm with Mike on this. Its easy once you figure which tool fits the plug the best and be able to turn it. Seems like it was a odd number open-end wrench, 19/32 ? Weird size.
Leave the spare / tub alone. Why make more work for yourself and creating a second job to do the first job?

I have to top-off mine every spring, due to a gasket seepage. I mix unequal parts of the two lubes on my workbench. This concoction is put into a clear, squeeze, (condiment) bottle found at food supply stores. Refilling diffy is easy. Then put a dab of thread-sealant on the plug.
No need to do figure 8s or any of that bs. Lube is already mixed and will be thoroughly mixed before you get out of your driveway. You're good to go.
