Default What is this thin wire?

Hi all - I am in the process of having my 1970 350 motor rebuilt. While the motor is out I have been trying to clean some stuff up. I have found a couple things that I don't know what they are. The first is a very thin wire that runs along the top of the firewall and is then soldered to a thin metal plate. I cant tell where this goes on the other end. I have circled it in purple in the photo.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

That's about where the hood alarm/ajar switch would have been but they were in a hole. That plate doesn't look familiar. I wonder if someone added it and used that thin wire for the ground?

That was definitely added on- GM didn't use self taping screws in the fiberglass- nor silicone a wire to the firewall.
Is anything screwed into the hood at that location?

Thanks guys - the previous owner installed his own security system...I will take more pictures of that and see if that makes some sense?

IF it was for an alarm system, is there anything on the bottom side of the hood right over that plate?
Of course, maybe a plunger switch of some kind was on that plate and is now gone.
