For 1968 327 optional L79 engine 350 horsepower, which is the factory correct balancer.
Catalogs show 8 inch balncer with fins on rear for $350 and no fins for $100.
What was on this motor when it left the factory in 1968?
Need an answer ASAP TODAY please as must order. Engine is in shop and they are waiting for part.
Thank you in advance
Zip has the "correct" finned balancer for $305. Looks like it's probably NOS, by the price. They also have a perfectly functional replacement for $109, but it's not what was on the car when it left St. Louis in '68. If your objective is NCRS points, it looks like you gotta have fins! Just another one-a-them one-year-only parts that makes having a NCRS '68 an expensive hobby! Good luck! :yesnod:
Thank you one and all for the input and quick replies.
Gator 81, I called ZIP and they didn't have one in stock and at least they were honest and told me it will take at least 2 weeks to get one. Paragon had one in stock for $350.00 with the fins which is the correct one. The ones without the fins will fit but are not correct since they left the factory with the finned style balancers. Add another $50 for quick shipping and Paragon said it will be at the machine shop Tuesday morning. Since engine is in the balancing stage I couldn't waste two weeks waiting for ZIP and delaying the assembly process. I've only been waiting for this motor since September and I am getting impatient.
