Default Aluminum intake

My sons recently bought me a 69 BB stingray. It’s not the original motor. I ran the numbers at it is an early 70’s 454 with 427 heads. I’m wanting to put a new aluminum intake on it an not sure about hood clearance. I’ve read some older forums dated Year 2000, wasn’t sure if there is any new information or product out there. Can anyone help? Thank you!

Nothing has changed. Your world consists of the 3963569 LS6 intake whether you have rectangle or oval port heads. If you have ovals, your options are the L36 intake for spread bore only, Torker 2.0 for square bore only, and Holley 300-3 (used) for spread or square bore.

You can run a rectangle intake on oval heads. Runs fine.

I just installed new carb and manifold on my 69 BB...

Intake Manifold, Edelbrock Torker II, Single Plane, Aluminum, Square Bore, Non-EGR, Large Oval Port, Chevy, Big Block
Carburetor, Holley Street Avenger, 770 cfm, Square Bore, 4-Barrel, Vacuum, Electric Choke, Dual Inlet, Silver

Air cleaner base from original Quadrajet was easily modified and everything fits under the BB hood.

Thanks, I did see where the Torker II would work but wasn’t sure about the single plane. I’m going to be adding the Holy Sniper not sure if that would work best on single or duel plane. Not a good enough mechanic to know. I have cast iron now with new edelbrock 750. Seems to have more left on table if you know what I mean.

it will always have more left on table until you raise that carb or throttle body up to where that hood does not fit.

A single plane would be fine with fuel injection

Thanks, 7t9182 I think I might go the Torker II route. My other option would be to go with an L88 hood that would give more clearance under the hood I think. However, I like the original look. Decision, decisions...
