Elusive noise
72 small block 4 speed car. I have a noise that sounds very similar to a valve tap at 2,200 to 2,500 RPM. I can make it happen in any gear as long as I float between that RPM. The problem I am having is it will only do it in motion...….driving it. I can get it to that RPM in the garage and float it between that RPM all day long and it won't make the noise. I have.looked at everything rotational and can't find a thing. Like I said it sounds similar to a valve tap I'm not saying that's what it is that's just the best description of the noise I can give. It's not really loud you have to listen for it but it's there and I hear it. This is probably an impossible I question to ask just thought I would look for some opinions.

Yes, without actually hearing it and or where it's coming from. Have you tried taking a passenger along with really good hearing. Me, I'm old and can't hear ****.
