Default 1970 LT1 Fuel Pump

Hey everyone,

I am replacing the fuel pump on my 1970 LT1. The problem now is that there seems to be two different fuel pumps and I don't know which one is the correct pump for my application. As you guys can see in the pictures, both pumps have the correct number of connections (2 not 3), but the connectors for the fuel tank are in two different positions, one being lower than the other, and pointed in two different directions. Both pumps were sold as being part number 40709, which, as far as I know, is correct for a 1970 LT1.

Also, the fuel pump that is currently installed on the Corvette matches the left pump in the pictures, however, the concern with this is that I want to ensure that I am installing the correct pump for a 1970 LT1 Corvette, built in late June.

Thanks everyone!

After a quick look on Rockauto. The pump on the right in your pic. Is the correct one for Holley carb. They have a couple pictures that match that one. The one on the left is for a 72 model. Hope it helps.

The "short" inlet well pump on the right in your top photo is correct.

Speedreed8 and Lars,

Thanks for the knowledge. I'll be putting on the pump on the right as you guys have said.

Thanks again.

How did this work out for you?
I have the same problem, long inlet installed but shorty is the part that is on website.
