Another this is my first time doing this, is this normal, or what am I missing?
I jack the spring up and the tire and car just lift. The spring does not slide up the bolt. Should it slide up from the nut at the bottom of the bolt? (See pic)
Or should I jack the spring and then take the nut off?

If you raised the jack until the wheel was off the ground then that spring should have moved up on the bolt...however some of the springs have a very high arch. Don't recommend just taking off the nut with the spring still under compression...something bad might happen. Also getting it back on might be a problem. Seems like you need another method.....let's see what the experts say.

Maybe just loosen the bolt without taking it off mine was very difficult to get off and had to use an impact wrench, might want to try to loosen it now before you jack up the spring, it may loosen it up enough for it to come off then...if its stuck..
You might try a jack under the spring with the car still on the ground, if it will fit. Just to see if the spring pushes up on the bolt. It shouldn't be stuck. Also with the car jacked up, block the other side so the car wont rock sideways when you jack up on the spring.
