Another this is my first time doing this, is this normal, or what am I missing?
I jack the spring up and the tire and car just lift. The spring does not slide up the bolt. Should it slide up from the nut at the bottom of the bolt? (See pic)
Or should I jack the spring and then take the nut off?
You will have to remove your sway bar links on top of your trailing arms to remove the bolts to change the rubbers ,but other wise it looks like you have got it set up right .The spring should slide up the bolt so it has no pressure on the nut and then you should be good to go..
That's my confusion. I did a "dry run" just to see if the spring slid up the bolt when jacked. It did not. It just raised the tire. I'm wondering if I have to bang on the spring to help it up the bolt, but don't want to do any damage.
Since the car looks like it was still sitting on the tires when you jacked the spring then it's probably just jammed onto the bolt. Usually the cars are lifted (sometimes wheels off) and the arms are hanging / free to move and the spring should just slide up, maybe need a little wiggle to get going

Yes, the tires were up before I started jacking the spring. It's the same on both sides. When I take another shot at it tomorrow, I'll try tapping and shaking the wheel.
I personally would start to free up loosen the bolt a few turns. Mine was pretty tough to remove and had to use electric impact...not remove but just to loosen a thread or two while not jacking..
kinda dangerous when jacking and trying to loosen a tough bolt...nut...and during that process maybe it will loosen it up when you jack spring and easier to remove...

Right on, lots of umph in that spring, maybe spray WD40 and let that work a few minutes too.
Any luck with this? I ran into the same problem, but I haven't seen anyone else solve it. My link bolt sorta leans forward from the leaf toward the trailing arm.
