I see why everyone said it was gonna be a major job to swap! With the trans out, I can see how little room there is for a auto to fit up there! BTW, I had dropped the motor down in the back to get to the bellhousing bolts but some were still a PITA to get to? It doesn't seem like the motor dropped very far down as I have a HEI in it and did pop the cap but it still didn't come close to hitting anywhere else.
I've never done a c3 car before. After I put my 427/400 in my cat, my uncle said "this is a 4 speed car." "How did you get this in here?" It really wasn't that difficult. May change it back to a 4 spd now lol. Already have the pedals, bellowing, clutch etc.
QUOTE=Gale Banks 80';1601294786]So your going to have to cut the crossmember out and then weld it back in in such a way to make it so it can be bolted in in the future. Other wise Your going to need to remove the Engine install the Trans then re install the engine. The Brake Master cylinder Bolts are what holds the Peddle assembly in they are not fun to get to I recommend You replace the brake booster at the same time if it has one. Why use an old 3 speed trans when everybody has been using 4 or more speed transmissions for the last 25 years. It might be easier to buy the wife a Corvette of her own.[/QUOTE]
