Default water pump update

So I did get lucky and purchase the correct water pump for my 68 327. It measures 5" 21/32, I didn't know if was long or short but I got lucky. So the bad part, I used the factory power steering pump brackets, It looks like the alternator bracket had been modified but it lines up well. My problem is as you can see the power steering is out of alignment. The power steering pump was still connected to the lines just tied to the suspension for towing when I got the car. No brackets were on the motor when I got it. I found them in a 5 gallon bucket that came with the car. Any suggestions?? Buddy" not sure if the pics uploaded??

Yea, I was wrong about the water pump. The water pump and crank pulley line up perfect, Alternator looks good too. But no way the power steering pump will line up. sitting out too far to catch a grove on the crankshaft?? I thought this is the factory power steering bracket??

Tell us the pulley number on that power steering pump.

If you can, take a picture of the PS bracket separated from the pump.

Here is a bunch of pulley info that I put together for my 68. You can look at the rest of the thread also for more information: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...post1595410814

I suspect your aftermarket pulleys are messing you up (just a guess, but you know.......)

and below is an image of how mine is lined up. Hope it helps some.

You have a 2-groove crank pulley which won't allow your P/S pump to align. I have a 3-groove pulley which aligns the P/S pump to the outer groove. carriljc has a 3-groove pulley, also,......note pics, I must have the same brackets as you, because a 2-groove pulley didn't quite line up.....

Just for clarity. My crank and water pump pulley are stock 2 groove pulleys with stock "add on" pulleys in front of them....so they "look like" 3 groove pulley setups.

Go read that thread I posted..it has all the part numbers for pulleys that you need.

Get that part number from your PS pulley and I can line you up....

Thanks for all the info. Here are pics of the pump and brackets. It looks to me that the pump sits on the lower bracket crooked?? The lower bracket bolts on to the block square, but the pump sits off to a angle when attached to the bracket.

Ok guys, I used the factory crank pulley, factory water pump pulley, which required 2 shims that came with the new pump that fit perfect. I took the brackets off the power steering pump put it back together again it seem to line up this time??? WTF?? I guess I had it cocked on the lower bracket? Seems to b lining up good!!

Way to go. Good job. Looks like you need to straighten out your alternator support so it also lines up straight.

And YES, that is the same PS Pulley as is on my 68.

Yes , you were right. Aftermarket pulleys were both a bit off. Both adding up to being far out. I believe I had the power steering pump cocked in the mount, after taking it apart and putting it back together with factory pulleys it lined right up. Thanks for your help Buddy"
