You can actually get to the washer pump by just taking the driver side gill off the car and if you look in there you will see the washer pump and its electrical connections.
I did mine last Summer and think I posted the approach. I unattached the bottle so that I could tip it and accessed it through the open drivers side gill (held in by 3 small torx bolts) per prior poster mentioned. It gives you a fairly straight shot to access the 3/4" nut from the filler opening that holds it in the bottle. Reverse the process to install, then re-affix the filler neck. Good luck - it was a surprisingly satisfying little summer afternoon restoration project in my garage. BTW, I found that having a bright LED treble light was/is essential.
Thank you for your time in responding!
Went ahead and started the project on 4/12/20 and basically did what you both mentioned and tried forever to remove the bottle with no luck.
I thought the bottle could be taken all the way out, but alas, it was not to be. I determined the only way was to do as you mentioned and used a combination of going thru the side vent and from the bottom.
I had to remove the horn and the vapor tank in order to get the bottle turned enough to get a socket on the interior nut of the bottle and reversed the process of installing the new pump. Am having a terrible time getting the bottle re-attached to the wheel well. Still not there yet! Definitely need two people or four arms to accomplish this feat, which I do not have. Had to give up and will try again today.
Yes - but, are very close. (Until I pulled out my bright (65 watt) LED light I was having a hard time seeing up into that cavity and trying to do it by “feel”. Let us know when you succeeded in the final reattachment and good luck.
Got the washer bottle and horn back on, with help from my wife, but am having an even harder time getting the hoses to the vapor canister on. Have tried WD40 to lube them thinking they would slide on easier but still no luck. Any ideas?
Heating the hoses did the trick.
Everything back together and low and behold everything works!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you everyone, is great to be able to lean on other people for their experience.
