New shocks and ride height

New shocks and ride height

Should the ride height change if you install new shocks? I thought the position was set by the springs and the shocks just effected the ride quality. I changed the shocks and the ride height looks a little different to me, but I'm not 100% sure. I've never measured it and I've only had the car a year.

Gas charged shocks have a little "push" to them, but not a lot........run it around a bit and see if it settles......

New shocks can be a bit taller than old, collapsed shocks. The difference should not be too noticeable.

Think about it. If you can compress the shock with you arms, do you think they will hold up a 3000lb car?

Depending on old worn out shocks..the replacement ac delcos i put on were VERY difficult to compress..so yes..if I couldn’t compress by hand on my back under car..i can for sure push up on the car and move it up by hand easily a half inch..at least in the rear
