how do you tell if my air conditioner has been converted over to use the new fluid from R12? I read some where that the fill plug fitting is different so in my tool box i have a guage and hose to recharge the air conditioner, that i have used in the past to charge with modern fluids so i took the L cap off the line and it snaps into the fitting. do i have to pump out the line with a vacuum pump or can i just recharge it any suggestions
Theoretically...when someone changes from r12 to 134....they were supposed th change fittings and label clearly the changeover...
but they may not have..
my 79 high pressure valve was a weird size r12 and needed adapter..
even if you vacuum out you still have to know what oil is in there because they are different..
pics of fittings helpful..maybe ac shops have a detector or some test if you still have refrigerant left..
i did see if you let some gas out, and one environmentalist comes running up its 134..if 3 or more show up r12....sorry
