Thanks
There is no rear water crossover on any SBC intake manifold....
The heads are symmetrical, therefore a water outlet port is cast at both ends of the head so they can be used on either side.

Not sure what you are asking about drilling a hole or removing the plate....on what?

Remove the heat block off plate from 1204 gasket for the right side or drill a hole.

I wouldn’t.....you just heat up the intake.....which is bad.....
Convert to electric choke....heating the intake for the sole purpose of the choke to me is a dumb idea, it is an antiquated system....

I know.... but Lars rebuilt my Q-jet and the divorced choke works perfect. So... if I open the right side.. it's only "half" bad.. right?

It’s still going to get hot.....I have shot infrared on a stock setup before (My own 66’ before I modified it) and it was 400 degrees right at the carb base.....
I understand wanting to use the factory choke as it works....but I just wouldn’t....especially in hot climates.

Sure it is....there are kits available everywhere for Q-Jets to convert to electric choke.
In fact, there is an electric choke conversion for just about any American car all the back to the 50’s if you look.

Yep, found one for divorced choke; it's Only $80
lots more than a conversion from hot air choke.

I agree with Jebby, yes antiquated system. I'll just throw this out there for those interested. I run Edelbrock aluminum heads which have no crossover in the castings, and the 2101 intake on my 69 L-46. I also run my factory Quadrajet with the divorced choke set-up. It still works correctly without issue. The heat generated from the engine is enough to make the choke work perfectly as designed. Several years ago when putting these heads on my engine I did with the assumption I would need to do an electric choke conversion. I setup the divorced choke and was surprised how well it still works. It may be a little slower to open but not by much as far as I can tell. Is the electric choke a better design? Yes, Will the divorced choke still work without the hot exhaust passing through the intake? Yes, from my own experience.

I'm hearing that I can leave the 1204 gaskets "blocked" and the divorced choke will work fine.
This is good.

Thanks
