Default Fan switch mounting location

Hi guys,

I have a 180 degree thermostat
Bought an electric fan kit. It comes with a temp sensor that turns the fans on at 185 degrees and off at 165.
I fear that once they turn on they will never turn off. Where should I mount the sensor? In the water pump was suggested to me as that has cooler water coming in so they eventually would shut down.
Is that a good idea?

Thanks!

You should consider using a sensor with a higher turn on temp, like a 195 on and 180 off. Not sure what year C3 you have but you might have a head sensor location between #6 and #8 cylinders.

The water pump is where I have mine.

Yours will run continuously with that temp shut Off. get higher temp on and off sensor. More like 210 on 185 or 190 off.

Just looked at mine it looks like it's a 200* on 185* off switch and I run a 180* thermostat with aluminum radiator and it cycles off. You'll also need an adapter to fit the switch into the water pump top hole. The hole is bigger than the thermo switch. Don't recall the sizes or I'd tell ya. There should also be a hole that fits the thermo in the intake manifold if it's still stock and not in use by stock thermo switch that controls vacuum.
You'll be limited to what thermo switches are available as to what range you run.

You want the TURN ON temp to be about 15 degrees higher than the thermostat temp and the TURN OFF temp to be 5-10 degrees higher than stat temp.

With a 180*F stat, turn on should be 195-200 and turn off at 185-190. There needs to be a 5-10 degree differential between TURN ON and TURN OFF temps.

Cheers guys.
Got the thread adapter. : )
I'll have a look for a 200-185 temp switch. I'll run an ON-OFF-ON switch for now. So I can run it manually now and add the 'automatic' setting via the sender when it arrives. (And keep manual control in case I need it)

There is a company called VOLT that has temp switches in all kinds of set ranges.

Thanks for the info big2bird.
I found their site looks like you can buy in different NPT sizes too so you don't have to run the adapter. Next time I'm in the market I'll probably use these guys.
