is yours the 7 pin module big bird posted? or this type? https://www.ebay.com/p/18037194040?i...oaAhRjEALw_wcB
7 pin is correct CCC type. 4 pin is vacuum and centrifugal advance. common in 81's after that CCC carb got thrown in the river for a float test.

I will be the dissenting vote. I recently, March 2020, replaced plugs, wires and distributor cap. The distributor cap had a slight crack and one wire was arching.
The car ran well but not great, felt as though it was topping out at 75mph.
i replaced the HEI coil and ICM both AC DELCO. The car ran strong up to 85mph.

I replaced both, my 37 yr. old coil and ignition module (and cap) as a set on my '82 last Summer - I really disliked how it needed to turn over for 3-4 seconds to start, and the ignition module will fail, often stranding one. I have zero interest in being stranded and trying to figure out what the issue is when there are so many potential variables for a no-start condition. And, I want to avoid carrying around an assortment of parts in my car. Cheap insurance (remember the heatsink lube and buy the proven Delco brand as earlier mentioned by a wise poster/s), weekends are too short to risk sapping the good vibes out of it by dinking around by the side of a road or a friends driveway/restaurant parking lot vs. my garage, and, best for my wife's reliable cruising experience, as well.
And, aside from a piece of mind my engine now fires right up in in 1, sometimes 2 seconds every time even after sitting in winter hibernation. A very welcome improvement.
