Default Early ‘69 Accelerator Lever Orientation

From most of the posts I have read on here, the short side of the accelerator pedal is pointing towards the passenger side. However, my service manual shows the short side pointing towards the drivers side. It almost appears as if the lever in the manual has a different orientation than the one I ordered from zip. Also, any tips on installing the accelerator cable would be very much appreciated! That one bolt that secures the accelerator cable way up there is really tricky to get!

I would look at how your existing one is bent at the cable attachment and orient the new one to match that part and ignore the short clamping arm. I think the bend is more important to the cable angle and wear.
I would have it so it is bent so that it is parallel with the fire wall like the pic

There is only one way where it lines up with the hole coming through the firewall but I can’t remember which way it was but should be obvious when you look.

Check that you have full travel at the carb. I have a January 69 and (without looking), I think it is a one piece design. In any event I had to bend my arm to accommodate full throttle. Also I put a teflon block to lift the the pivot point so that I could heel and toe. I guess if you have an automatic, that is meaningless, I don't know what automatics look like under there, but the full travel check still applies.

Solved! Ending up going with the orientation where the top of the accelerator lever is parallel with the firewall. Figured that was the most important thing. Thanks for all your help!
